Tim Jackson, pastor of the Headwaters Church, has a heart for people living on the edge. God developed this heart in him as he grew up in a broken home and then spent the early part of his adult life (17-24) living a self-destructive lifestyle.Since surrendering his life to Jesus Christ back in the fall of 1995, Pastor Tim has dedicated his life to growing closer to God through prayer, study, contemplation, mentoring, and Bible College.
Tim, has also strived to be a Godly husband to his wife, Tina and a Godly father to their two children, Katy and Eli as well as a little one due to arrive in early December, 07. Pastor Tim also has two older daughters, Heather (18) and Kylie (17) from a previous marriage before he was saved. He has sought and has been reconciled with their mother, and has continually supported them with his presence (weekends, Holidays, summer vacations) prayers, and finances.
Not long after surrendering his life to Jesus Christ, Tim sensed God calling him into the ministry. However, being divorced, he was a member of a church that would not allow divorced men to serve in leadership positions. After spending much time in prayer (months) and seeking the council of wiser and older men, he approached his pastor and offered to leave the church, not wanting to bring about any division. Humbly, his pastor encouraged him to stay, and the church decided to support him. Not long after, he received a calling as student pastor at a church in Clinton.
Since then, Tim has been passionately involved in student ministry (seeing over 500 children, students and adults pray to receive Jesus Christ as the personal Lord and Savior!) missions (to the inner cities of DC, Chicago, Dayton, and Myrtle Beach) Church Planting (New Life Fellowship) mentoring (7 student pastors locally and nationally) and praying for a spiritual awakening in East Tennessee with other pastors.
In early 2006 God placed the vision on Tim’s heart to plant a missional church. After several months in prayer with his wife, encouragement from friends, counsel from coaches and mentors and most of all, affirmation from God, Tim and Tina, decided it was time to jump out on faith and pursue the vision that was Headwaters Church.
Since that time, Headwaters Church has been active in ministering to people on the edge. We have already seen God heal the hearts, minds, and souls of many in our core group, as well as many others pray to receive Jesus Christ! We have purchased reliable transportation for some, paid off the credit cards of others, and have provided housing for those without.
Above all, Tim and Tina are honored and humbled that God has given them this opportunity to minister to people living here in Anderson County.
